Protect your future family before it begins…
Protect your future family before it begins… by Salisu Musa Rabiu
Love can be beautiful. You meet someone, you connect, and everything just feels right. Conversations flow, plans start forming, and before you know it, you are already thinking about forever.
But sometimes, in the middle of all that emotion, we forget something very important.
The future you are planning is not just about the two of you. It also includes the children that may come from that union. And their health matters just as much as your happiness.
Many people avoid conversations like genotype because it feels uncomfortable. It can even feel like you are doubting the relationship. But in reality, it is one of the most responsible things you can do.
Because love alone cannot prevent Sickle Cell Disease. And finding out too late can lead to difficult decisions, emotional pain, or a lifetime of challenges for innocent children.
We see it happen too often. Couples deeply in love, already committed, only to discover they are not compatible when it comes to genotype. At that point, every option becomes painful.
That is why early awareness matters. Not after engagement. Not close to the wedding. Early!
It is not about fear. It is about responsibility. It is about protecting the life you are planning before it even starts.
Because at the end of the day…
Love is important, but the future you build with that love matters even more.
