Kano's Healthy Political Rivalry: Abba vs. Barau
Kano State is currently witnessing a healthy and exciting rivalry between Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP and Senator Barau Maliya of the APC. Both leaders are actively engaging in developmental initiatives, each striving to outshine the other. Abba recently sponsored thousands of students to study abroad and paid school fees for many indigent students. Not one to be left behind, Barau launched a similar scholarship program and provided support for students in the state.
The competition extends beyond education. Abba provided vehicles for the police to strengthen security in Kano, and Barau followed suit with his own similar gesture. These acts of service show how their rivalry is driving impactful changes that benefit the people. While both leaders are in opposing political camps, their efforts are pushing Kano forward in education, security, and public welfare.

Interestingly, the rivalry is expected to intensify as 2027 approaches. For now, the people are the real winners, enjoying the dividends of this competition. May it continue to inspire progress for the state!

We were praying congregationally with this elderly person in the same queue. As we were rising from the prostration, my hand suddenly slipped into his pocket unintentionally. He politely grabbed my hand when I quickly reversed it to the initial stand. I felt extremely embarrassed and ashamed.   After the taslim, he looked at me suspiciously with a lucrative smile on his face. I glanced at him and turned down. I learned that I must wait for his departure to avoid having a conversation with him. October has taught all Real Madrid fans a substantial lesson in the history of football this year. After being humiliated by our biggest pseudo rivals on Saturday's Classico match, we were lately snubbed by France football by denying the best footballer right now his honor.
